Graduation Requirements

 

Youth Sector High School Graduation Requirements

 

If you are attending the Adult Education Sector, refer to your Guidance Department for detailed Graduation requirements, as they are slightly different from those in the Youth Sector.
 

  • A minimum of 54 Sec IV + V credits
    • the last digit of each course code indicates the credits given for passing that course
      •  i.e.: a 504 course is worth 4 credits while a 506 is worth 6 credits.
  • including at Sec IV:
    • at least 4 credits in Mathematics (CST, TS or Scientific)
    • at least 4 credits in History and Citizenship (in English or French)
    • at least 4 credits in Science
    • at least 2 credits in Arts Education (Fine Arts, Music, Drama or Dance)
  • including at least 20 at Sec V:
    • 6 credits in English (Mother Tongue)
    • at least 4 credits of French (French Second Language)
    • at least 2 credits in Ethics & Religious Culture or Physical Education

  • "Cultural" Math = 563-404 & 563-504          [2 courses of 100 hours each year]
  • "Technical" Math = 564-406 & 564-506       [2 courses of 150 hours each year]
  • "Scientific" Math = 565-406 & 565-506       [2 courses of 150 hours each year]
  • "General" Science = 555-404                       [not by itself a prereq. for Chem or Phys]
  • "Applied" Science = 557-406                       [not by itself a prereq. for Chem or Phys]

 

  • "Environmental" Science = "General" + 558-404 or "Applied" + 558-402

 

  • i.e. a composite 8 credit prerequisite for chemistry & physics
    Many schools schedule "Environmental" together as one course and call it “Advanced Science 408”
  • "Chemistry"= 551-504 "Physics" = 553-504
    • Passing chemistry OR physics will automatically give the equivalent credits (EQU) for “Environmental Science”
